Fuxia high-speed railway’s Meizhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge witnesses test train speeding at 453 kilometers per hour

The trial train of the Meizhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge on the Fuxia High-Speed Railway has achieved a groundbreaking milestone. On June 28, the test train reached an impressive speed of 453 kilometers per hour and 891 kilometers per hour during two trains encounter, marking a significant advancement in the development of the CR450 high-speed train. This achievement sets the stage for the successful implementation of the “CR450 Technological Innovation Project.”

The development of the next-generation high-speed train is underway. China State Railway Group is pushing the boundaries to deliver higher speeds, enhanced safety features, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and intelligent capabilities. Recently, a performance verification test was conducted on new technological components, evaluating their performance under even higher operating speeds in the Fuqing to Quanzhou section of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway.

Experts have hailed the achievement of reaching a speed of 453 kilometers per hour as a new record, underscoring the increased requirements for smoothness and precision in the railway system. To ensure such remarkable performance, China Railway 11th Bureau Group employed an upward-moving mobile formwork system during the construction process, significantly enhancing mechanization and guaranteeing the overall sliding and precise positioning of both internal and external templates for the box girder.

Furthermore, advanced construction practices such as the “Three Lows and One High” and the “Three Steps and Six Passes” methods were developed and refined for rail laying. These practices encompass concrete selection, surface roughening, vibration compaction, finishing and curing processes. Additionally, track geometry data collection was conducted using a track precision adjustment vehicle, enabling analysis of data changes before and after pouring. This meticulous approach ensures parameter verification and guarantees track accuracy, providing robust support for high-speed train operation tests.

The Meizhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge, spanning a total length of 14.7 kilometers with a marine construction length of 10.8 kilometers, stands as China’s first cross-sea high-speed railway cable-stayed bridge. It is a vital project within the Fuxia High-Speed Railway line. Throughout the construction process, China Railway Construction triumphed over various challenges, including the construction of an extra-long sea bridge, tidal zone cofferdams, large-diameter deepwater pile foundations, and precise positioning of main tower saddles. These accomplishments yielded over 30 research achievements, including the development of the “Kunlun” thousand-ton integrated lifting and transportation machine and the large-span movable formwork beam-making machine. These innovations effectively addressed construction difficulties, significantly reducing the construction period and showcasing remarkable engineering achievements in China.

Introducing the BLCP500 track laying machine has been a game-changer in the track laying process on the Fuxia High-Speed Railway. This innovative machine allows for the efficient “single-track laying for double-track operation,” bridging the technological gap in mechanized track laying for high-speed railways in China. The BLCP500 track laying machine ensures swift and precise track installation, contributing to the overall progress of the railway project.

The significant milestones achieved on the Fuxia High-Speed Railway project reflect China’s commitment to advancing railway infrastructure and adopting cutting-edge technologies in the transportation sector. As the project continues to make remarkable progress, these developments position China as a global leader in high-speed rail technology.
